Oh, Happy New Year by the way!

Forgot that it's already 2014..... OMG! 2014?!! Time literally flies.... I'm halfway through my exchange year. Wow. OK, I'd love to write more, but this Edgar Allan Poe essay is just haunting me every second. Gotta get back to the 3 sentences that I wrote. Ups.
Gosh, I know I said I will post a lot, but I guess it did not happen, at all. Yeah, that's me. Anyway, I'm supposed to write an English essay right now on Edgar Allan Poe but got bored and very uninspired so I thought I should at least write on the blog. I can't write too much cause then I won't be doing my essay which by the way due tomorrow with a Lululemon Ad Campaign paper for Marketing and inspiration board for Fashion. Not to mention that I'm writing this from a church while waiting for my host mom and sister who has a class here until 7.30 then at 8.15 we will drop my other sister at a house community or something near the church and since this church is far from our home, we can't just drop her then head back home since it will be a waste of time. So after we drop her we will go to a Starbucks nearby until 9 then go pick up my sister. (Whoa, I didn't realize how long I've been writing!)

So, a quick flash info of what's happened:
1. I moved to my second host family! Just a week before the winter break. They're amazing!
2. Had a looong winter break! It was only supposed to be 2 weeks but then the governor of Minnesota decided to give a day off on Monday because it's too cold and dangerous for students to go to school. Then unexpectedly Minnetonka school district added one more day off on Tuesday! Although I really didn't do much during the break. Some skating, sledding, gatherings, movies and that's about it.
3. Today was the first day of school after winter break, it was awful. I forget about any task during the break so I didn't do it and I was reminded today in literally every class. The only good thing about today was that I got to meet my friends again.

Hopefully I'll write again very soon. Hopefully.

Arrival

I remember when I landed at Minneapolis - St. Paul Airport a thousand feelings rushed through me. Happiness, joy, anxiety, uncertainty. I was so happy and relieved to finally arrive after a 36 hours flight, but at the same time I was nervous and terrified! I had no idea what to expect, how everyone looks like because I had no picture of them, what I should do and say right after I see them, and what they will think of me. I even had a nervous breakdown at one point. It was a quick one but still, I was so nervous that second I want to go back to the plane! I was terrified to meet everyone all the sudden. I went down the escalator and to my shock they were waiting there. That moment right there was the moment I realize, my life is really going to change, in a really good way.

3rd Month Already?

November 23rd, 2013 marked the 3rd month I've been in the US! I can't believe how fast time pass. A lot of people told me the first 3 months will be the hardest in an exchange year, but honestly I can't relate to that! I've been having an awesome time!!! I'm not homesick the slightest. I haven't even been in front of my laptop that often. It's really hard to believe, me - the computer geek, who spent almost every single hour of my life in front of a computer would rather do other things than be in front of a computer now. There are so many more exciting things out there for me than my computer, and that's my excuse for not blogging all these time. But I do realize the importance of blogging, to keep memories fresh. I don't want to go back to Indonesia and regret not having any writing to read and cherish. There are waaaaaaaaaayyy to many things that has happened in the first 3 months. I'm not going to write all those in one long post because that will be boring to read and write. I'll try to post something everyday from now on because there's always something interesting and new! No matter how ridiculous it seems, I'm going to write about it anyway. It's my blog, I can write whatever I want! I hope someone somewhere enjoys my writing. Please please please give comment on my posts, whether it's just to say hi, encouraging words, questions, or even critiques! Everyone's welcome!

'till next post!

Introduction

Greetings from Indonesia!

First of all, let me introduce myself. My name is Fabiola Devina Elgatami, but you can call me Vivi. I'm a 16 years old living in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This year, I should've been in my senior year, do exam, and finally graduate! BUT, all those things won't happen. Why? It's because I decided to become an exchange student! Wohoo! You might wonder why I want to be an exchange student and how I become one. I will definitely write about that, but not now. This post will just be a quick look into who I am. To tell you the truth ever since I was just a little kid, I've always loved travelling! I love discovering new places, learn other cultures and last but not least learn new languages. So, that's the most basic reason why I want to be an exchange student. That's about everything now, soon enough I will post more.
